I was at a Wednesday KM meeting and there was a sister who had severe mental problems. Now this sister was a beast of a women, she had to be at least 250 pounds and about 5'9. Well one MS was giving a talk and she just breaks out yelling, "Jehovah!! Jehovah!! A Demon is in your midst" and makes a b-line for the brother!! She gets about 4 feet from the stage when two mic boys come from nowhere to tackle her. Well amongst all the commotion my Dad jumps up and runs in on it, he was one of the more physically strong brothers in the hall. So they are dragging her out the whole time she is screaming nonsense or truth about the brother being of Satan and her doing Jehovah's will trying to destroy him. Me and my friends were just looking in amazement half laughing half afraid she might come back with a pistol and mow us down. Well of course the brother being the robot he was nervously finished his talk. It was the craziest thing I have ever seen in a hall ever. Of course they wouldn't dare say a demon had somehow gotten in the hall and possessed this women for that they all embraced mental disorders!

Experiences at the meetings
by slimboyfat insince i still go to meetings i am going to post some thoughts about what i see and hear to refresh apostate memories of what glorious experiences you are missing out on these days.
yesterday we had the book study, the boredom of the study itself was only alleviated by two incidents, one sad and the other strange.... there is a sister who is bi-polar and comes infrequently who was there.
she was called to give an answer and started crying into the microphone.

malawi
by manhasbecomelikeoneofus ini saw an abc news report yesterday on bill clintons efforts to help poor farmers in malawi.
i had a jw flashback to the seventies when i was taught to end every prayer with "and please help and protect our brothers and sisters in malawi".
it felt like a vietnam flashback!

Best qoute ever from my Mom about the Malawi/Mexico situation:
"The influence that the society had was only that they sent missionaries to teach them what the Bible says (John 17:15,16) They were acting on what the Bible said to them. They were like the Boereans who did their own Bible reading and acted on what they read."
Pfffftt that is what the society is trying to peddle as an excuse. "we had nothing to do with it at all it was all them! They are allowed to interpret the scriptures as they please!". -

Interesting Sociology assignment
by journey-on inwhen i was in college (in my 30's because i started late due to jw childhood), my sociology prof gave us an assignment: if you were made the benevolent dictator tomorrow and you could do anything to change things, what and how would you do it.
remember, you are a dictator, a benevolent one, but a dictator nonetheless.
you are allowed to initiate any programs you choose.

I just always got a kick out of the idea that someone would actually want a suicide that involves extra pain. I believe the actual term used in Futurama was "Slow painful death". For serious though I have always felt the idea of religion in the book Cats Cradle by Kurt V. Jr. was an incredible one. Make a fake religion, outlaw it, make your best friend the leader or the "prophet" , then execute bad criminals under the guise that they are being executed for practicing their faith. It gives people something to live for.

The Watchtower SocietyIs It Murder Incorporated?

example, the no blood policy can be seen as a religious belief supported by scripture.
what would be the difference say, for an individual giving up his life for his country?

Let me start by saying I think that you probably shouldn't get baptized when your that young. For allowing kids to do that I believe is wrong. The fact of the matter is you are letting yourself be controlled by believing any doctrine. So they tell you not to question it, doesn't mean you do not have too. Now I won't deny the WTS helps build up a guilt system but they are not forcing anyones hand. Thats all I am saying. Everyone (almost) has obviously started thinking for themselves who are on this board and believe it not to be true it was your choice just like it's your choice in the end to believe it.

Perhaps I have the rarest of the rare, the bible thumping non self righteous J-dub Mom. One thing I agree with her on is that any time you file membership (in this sense being baptized) for anything you should only do it if you know and accept things they believe. Now perhaps the argument could be made that they influence what you know and accept, but as mind controlling as people claim it, it is your choice and no one else's. If you really feel that blood is OK by the bible then just do it and stop bitching about this stuff. Like someone earlier said you either take the chance and do it or your don't, but you can't blame someone else for an action you yourself did. Guilt alone is no excuse for someone taking control of your life, that being said I also think that if the WTS truly believes that they should abstain from blood then so be it. If there is evidence they knew there is no biblical knowledge for it and they are holding that back from members then yes they are blood guilty.
